I convocati per il Pro Bowl 2019 e qualche curiosità
Si è conclusa la fase di votazione del Pro Bowl 2019 e i voti raccolti dal sito NFL, dai giocatori e dagli allenatori hanno proclamato quali saranno gli 86 giocatori (43 per Conference) che saranno invitati ad Orlando il 27 gennaio. Eccoli divisi per ruolo.

Ai giocatori se ne aggiungeranno due che verranno scelti dai rispettivi coaching staff che saranno quelli delle due squadre sconfitte nei Divisional col miglior record in regular season.
I capitani onorari delle due squadre saranno Jim Kelly (Hall of Fame e 8 Pro Bowl) e Demarcus Ware per la AFC mentre Emmith Smith (Hall of Fame e 8 Pro Bowl) e Brian Urlacher (nove Pro Bowl) per la NFC.
Ventinove sono i giocatori alla loro prima esperienza, tra cui sei rookie: il rb dei Giants Saquon Barkley, il punter dei Seahawks Michael Dickson, la safety dei Chargers Derwin James, il rb dei Broncos Phillip Lindsay, la guardia dei Colts Quenton Nelson e il cornerback dei Browns Denzel Ward.
29 squadre hanno almeno un giocatore al Pro Bowl (Bills, Raiders e Buccaneers non hanno giocatori selezionati) e 24 ne hanno più di uno nell’elenco dei prescelti; i Los Angeles Chargers guidano la classifica con 7 seguiti dai Kansas City Chiefs e Pittsburgh Steelers con 6 giocatori scelti.
La partecipazione al Pro Bowl non porta solo qualche giorno di vacanza per giocatori e famiglie, ma anche un bonus di 67mila dollari per i giocatori della squadra vincente e 34mila per gli sconfitti.
Dall’elenco verranno esclusi ovviamente i giocatori infortunati e quelli delle due squadre che disputeranno il Super Bowl previsto per la settimana seguente e saranno sostituiti dagli “alternate”, cioè i primi degli esclusi.
Prima di chiudere con gli elenchi dei giocatori scelti per il Pro Bowl 2019, due record:
- Phillip Lindsay è il primo rookie non scelto al draft che gioca in attacco ad essere scelto per il Pro Bowl
- Tom Brady, con la 14° convocazione al Pro Bowl, raggiunge Peyton Manning in testa alla classifica dei più selezionati
